You know what's "Classic" about the newly-released Quad II Classic? It's the exact same 15 watt amp as the legendary Quad II made over 50 years ago. I was, oh, many negative decades old at that point, so I have no idea if that's true or not, but so says Stereophile. Quad, if you're don't know, also makes the legendary Quad 989 electrostat that is rumored to be based on the monolith from 2001 - it's big, it's black, it's ugly as hell and sounds f-ing awesome.
The Classic monoblocks cost $2500 a pair and are said to "define" tube sound: warm, luscious and emotional. It is a retro sound that people like 6Moons Srajan get all hot and bothered about. The reviewer says the Classics real forte is "small-scale classical music." Hey, if you're into that small-scale stuff, power to you. I'm into the big scale classics like, you know, Run DMC and Biggie Smalls so I guess these aren't for me.
