A market research firm announced the number of MP3 players worldwide is expected to double by 2010, bringing the grand total to 286,000,000. Apple, of course, is top dog with 49% of people surveyed saying they own an iPod. Strange, considering Apple came out and said they control something like 75% of the market. Whatever the number, it's clear Apple is the Microsoft of MP3s.

In other news, the number of legit hi-fi systems worldwide is expected to be cleaved in half by 2010, bringing the grand total to 286,000. This number accounts for .000001% of all audio systems sold, with Bose controlling 98% of the market and growing at a rate of 2x each year.
