Crystal Cable Sleeps Around

 Gfx Cryst07 Versie2 250304

Cables get no love. At the recent Rocky Mountain Audio Fest, Crystal Cable tricked out many, many audio systems, becoming the most popular cable used by the loudspeaker and equipment manufacturers in attendance. A pretty big accomplishment one would think is news worthy, right? But, no, like an easy lay, Crystal didn't even get a "thank you" in the morning from the established audio press. Shame on you.

Ever-sensitive, 6Moons spends some deserved cuddle time with Crystal. And being a softy myself, here's a rundown on some of the sickest cables in all of audio. Go to the next page for a link torrent and why Crystal Cable should be on your short list if the thought of auditioning cables makes you physically ill.

Cerious Technologies Extreme Cable Makeover

 Audioreviews Cerious3 Hero Analog
Can you believe it??? A 6Moons review from someone other than Srajan! Edgar Kramer is the man in the mix and he shines a light on Cerious Technologies' full cable posse. Right in the middle of the high end pack, the power cord goes for $495 (5 feet), digital $495 (1 meter), analog interconnect $750 (1 meter/pair), and the speaker cable $995 (8 feet/pair).

"As much as the interconnects and speaker cables significantly enhanced the sonic quality of my system, the inclusion of the AC and digital leads upped that enhancement even further. I repeat, with the full Cerious Technologies cable lineup, it's not long before critical defragmentation stops and music's grandeur embraces one's soul. This, to me, makes for a tremendously satisfying experience."

Well, Edgar seems to like the cables just a bit. I'm not going to get into the drama going down in 6Moons HQ, but check out the article for Edgar dissing Srajan's micro transient attack, harmonic contenct and natural decay. Them fighting words! But really, Srajan's previous article comparing Zu, Cerious and Stealth cables caused some hard feelings when he proclaimed the Cerious cables are for girlie men. Edgar seems to think differently.

PS Audio xStream Resolution cables

 Products Images 347 3

"The xStream Audio Series of interconnects and loudspeaker cables are among the finest in the world at any price." (PS Audio)

PS Audio has released their new xStream Resolution line of speaker cables and interconnects and brought with it a whole lot of big talk. For those who own the last generation of Xstream cables, PS Audio is offering a trade-up program - turn in your old cables, get new ones 25% off. A pretty great policy more manufactures should get hip to. Of the Resolution series (which is their only series) there are two different classes: Reference or Transcendent with the only difference being the use of copper or silver inside (silver is more expensive and, naturally, better).

Check out our earlier post on the PS Audio UPC-200 for more about PS Audio and their power-conditioning history. They've also been making some very highly regarded cables, beginning with their Lab series, followed up by the xSteams and now the Resolutions. Prices start at $180 and $400 for 1 meter RCA of either the Reference or Transcendent respectively. $750 will get you 2.5 meters of Reference speaker. Check out their site for the rest of the price options, ordering info and a whole lot of hyperbole.
