 Audioreviews Hyperion3 2 2
Damn, Hyperion is on a murder spree. Not only are their speakers blowing up across the industry, but Srajan of 6Moons has this to say of their $2800/pr Ht-88 tube monoblock amps:

"Plainly put, they're silly good for the money asked."

And then he throws a Blue Moon Award their way. You know, Blue Moon = Oscar. The Hyperion Ht-88s crank out 18 watts, which, as Srajan finds, likes to be taxed by modestly efficient speakers. Hyperion is just crazy like that, I guess.

Hyperion also makes the BEC-P25 and P25T pre-amps (T=tubed) and BEC-Mono 100 watt monoblocks (pics of both on next page). And, of course, check out the review for all the dirt, lots of comparisons and the best photo shoot in the biz.

Actually you may have missed one excellent amp in this price range - not class D, not class A, nor class AB :-) but an old, robust and proven by Quad for more than 30 years analog amplifier design called "current dumping" (class A low powered amp coupled with class B power drivers in such a way that crossover distortion region is eliminated, sound is without any sign of the listening fatigue, etc...). My choice of the best amp in this price range would definitely go to Quad 909 with a good old Krell KRC-3 as a pre-amp (although I still own Quad 306 amp as well).
