See those big clear bubbles? Those are the Ferguson Hill horn speakers. Yeah, a nice departure from the other divorce-inspiring systems. While playing up that whole metro-suave angle, the Ferguson Hills are actually a pretty unique speaker. Unlike other horns with compression or standard drivers, FH uses a modified Lowther DX3 high-efficiency, full-range driver. Typically, Lowthers are used in unique folded cabinets. FH goes sans cabinet and fires the suckers into a massive acrylic horns.
There's a downside, of course. Bass. The FHs only hit 150Hz, a far cry from the 20Hz hearing limit. But beach-ball-styled powered bass modules are available, giving you a full system worthy of your Minority Report lifestyle.
Below, Ferguson Hill will be slowing their new "Mini" system at HE2006 in a few days. Identical to their statement system but in a slim-fast package. No specs yet so it's unknown how truly small it is, but the Mini is made for iPods and desktops. Price is also mini at $1000 instead of the $14k for the big Ferguson Hills. As far as I know, this is the smallest horn system available. We'll be at HE2006 with full coverage so we'll let you know if you should run out and buy one immediately. Stay tuned.
