Now we're talking. $99 gets you the DLO HomeDock, a KISS product that connects your iPod to your stereo or home theater rig, super-sizing your music, pictures and movies. A 14 function remote handles all iPod commands and the little dock works with both nano and nilla iPod versions.

Of course, the DLO HomeDock is ripe for modding. Alas, Vinnie Rossi of Red Wine is up to his ears in Squeezebox 3 modifications and can't even take a look at tweaking the HomeDock - believe me, I asked. All digital to analog conversion takes place inside the HomeDock but, I imagine, a mod ninja could send a pure signal to an outboard DAC.

Unless I have been misinformed, the device takes analog out of the iPod. Thus D/A conversion is still relegated to the iPod.
Sadly, I believe you are correct. An outboard DAC would be killer for modding.
Why is this any better than the regular iPod Dock you can buy via Apple?
I believe the iPod dock uses an RCA breakout cable through a tiny 1/8" plug, thus reducing quality. Also, the DLO has a spiffy remote control.
I used it a few times OK... now I can't seem to get the green light to come on when it's... the video plays, but no audio...
