The DK Design Group's VS-1 Reference integrated amp is a hybrid affair, sporting a pair of tubes for the pre-amp section and solid state for the amplifier itself. I have yet to see one of these critters in the wild, but every single review proclaims the DKs are definitely some of the most impressive and commanding amps around.
And, unlike the Shanling T300, the DK sounds as good as it looks. 160 watts per stereo channel, the massive piece costs $2995 and has won the hearts of reviewers everywhere. DK has only been in business a few years, but is already expanding its offerings beyond amps. The "F7" super speaker should be landing shortly, bringing with it DK's aerospace design and luscious sound.
