AV123, makers of reasonably priced hi-fi gear, have unveiled their latest product with big-time aspirations. The MFW-15 is a subwoofer that hits the low, low 15-17Hz range for the low, low price of $599. If you're a Hz-per-dollar kinda guy, this is some serious grunt for the buck. The 15" woofer is powered by a 350 watt amp and features a slot loaded bass reflex port (that black bar underneath the woofer).
AV123 has made a name for itself as the guys putting out more power for the dollar than anyone else out there. Their LS9 speaker, at $5995, isn't the cheapest speaker made, but it's easily the biggest speaker ever created for the price. At 80" tall with 21 drivers, the LS9 is the Shaq of audio...only he doesn't leave your favorite team for a bigger, fatter paycheck.
Of course, the only thing that matters is the sound, right? The entire AV123 line has a distinct Refined style. I've listened to a number of their speakers and found a clear family voicing from top to bottom. If you're into Refined, AV123's mad-scientist approach to the budget/performance ratio is exciting indeed.
